New development that works with our neighborhoods

New development affects you whether there is construction underway on your block today or not. All new development should be conducted in a transparent process, be sensitive, and should include your voice and those of your neighbors in the process as well as that of developers. Development should augment our neighborhoods’ characters.

By working with my Commission colleagues and staff, I intend to help ensure that new development does not jeopardize the integrity of our neighborhoods. Working with neighborhood organizations, making wise appointments to City Boards and Committees, and guaranteeing that new development does not begin when a street or neighborhood is scheduled for road or other improvements are just a few examples of my goals. So too is a review of existing development guidelines. The Era of Rampant Development is over.
