A transportation plan that will reduce traffic
Gridlock traffic is a nuisance and inconvenience to all of us, and it has negative economic effects from lost time. It is an inevitable side effect
of the global popularity of our beautiful city. With limited room for street expansion and because this and other options are out of character with our neighborhoods, effective mass transit offers a visionary solution to a difficult challenge.
Workers in Miami Beach who commute, and visitors are groups of people that produce much of today’s traffic. My proposal is for the development of a non-intrusive, high-speed mass transit system connecting Miami Beach to Miami and to Miami International Airport. This long-term goal would reduce the need for visitors and local employees who live on the mainland to rely on automobile transit to and around Miami Beach. As a Miami Beach Commissioner, I might long have finished my term of service to the City before completion, but I believe serious challenges warrant serious solutions.
